This explains what information ReSync holds and what you can do about it.

1. If you have a ReSync account
What we hold: your name, email address, password in encrypted form, and whatever you add to your profile, such as affiliation, research interests and publications. Also the messages you send through ReSync, and basic technical information such as your IP address and which pages you visit.
Why: to run the service, keep it secure, support you, handle your subscription, and improve the product.
2. If you have a profile but never signed up
Some profiles on ReSync were not created by the researcher. We build them from academic information published on Google Scholar, so that researchers can be found by people who want to work with them, and so they can claim their own profile if they join.
These profiles hold professional information only: name, affiliation, research topics and publications. We do not collect private contact details.
We do this because we have a legitimate interest in running a service that helps researchers find each other. Profiles can only be seen by people logged in to ReSync. They are not published on the open web.
You can have your profile removed at any time. Email privacy@resynchub.com. We do it within 30 days and we do not ask why.
3. Invite emails
If a ReSync user wants to work with someone who has not joined, we send that person one email telling them who is inviting them and how to opt out.
We send this once. We do not send reminders. If you opt out, we will not contact you again.
4. Payment
Payments are handled by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record. You give your card details to Paddle, not to us. We never see or store your card number. Paddle tells us your name, email, country and which plan you bought.
5. Who else sees your information
We do not sell your data.
We share it only with companies that help us run ReSync, such as our hosting, email and payment providers, and only so they can do that work. We may also share it if the law requires it.
6. Where your data is kept
Your data is stored on servers in the European Union and in Armenia, and our team in Armenia can access it. Armenia is outside the European Economic Area, so where the law requires it we use Standard Contractual Clauses to protect these transfers. You can ask us for details at privacy@resynchub.com.
7. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, which is necessary for ReSync to work.
We also use analytics to understand how the site is used. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
8. Emails from us
We send emails about your account, your subscription and security. These are part of the service.
We only send marketing emails if you have agreed, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
9. Messages between users
We do not read private messages as a matter of routine. We only look at them if someone reports abuse or the law requires it.
10. How long we keep things
We keep your information while your account is open.
When you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal information from ReSync straight away, and from our backups within 30 days. We keep payment records for 5 years because Armenian tax law requires it.
Profiles of researchers who never signed up are kept until they ask us to remove them. ## 11. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your data
- Stop using your data, including removing a profile you did not create
- Send you your data in a portable format
Email privacy@resynchub.com. We reply within 30 days. We may need to check who you are first.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
12. Security
We protect your information with encryption, access controls and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but if something happens that puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
13. Children
ReSync is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about children.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above and email account holders about important changes.
